Earlier this week, the Fordham Prep community celebrated the beginning of the new academic year with the Mass of the Holy Spirit. Joining in this tradition among Jesuit schools worldwide, the Prep community prayed for God's Spirit to bless our students, faculty, and staff in our shared pursuit of knowledge, understanding, and wisdom. Each year at this Mass, the community also take the opportunity to welcome its newest students, the Class of 2023, with some warm applause. During the celebration, Fordham Prep received its official sponsorship renewal from the USA Northeast Province of the Society of Jesus. Rev. Joseph Parkes, SJ, the Provincial Assistant for Secondary Education (PASE), Rev. Joseph O'Keefe, SJ, Superior of the Spellman Hall Jesuit Community and Fordham Prep Trustee, and Ms. Maura Toomb-Estevez, Associate for Secondary and Pre-Secondary Education were all on hand to commemorate the occasion. Fordham Prep's sponsorship by the Province was conferred after a year of self-study and reflection that concluded with a visit to the Prep by Ignatian educators in the fall of 2018. Sponsorship renewal affirms that Fordham Prep is effectively carrying out its mission as an apostolic work of the Society of Jesus and the Catholic Church.
