Fr. Devron on the Feast of St. Ignatius Loyola

Today we celebrate with the Society of Jesus and the Church the feast of St. Ignatius of Loyola. In 1537, during a time of great uncertainty in his life and future direction, Ignatius received a vision while visiting a small church in La Storta, a few miles outside of Rome. In that vision, Ignatius imagines God the Father turning to the Son and commending Ignatius and his companions to him, and, with exceedingly great love, asking Jesus to take them into his company. Ignatius was profoundly consoled by this vision, and it confirmed his decision to name his newly forming group "the Company of Jesus." Because of your participation in the mission of Fordham Prep, you, too, are part of this blessed company. May you also experience the consolation of Ignatius: the grace of knowing that you are in the company of Jesus: that in his great love, he calls you to abide with him, and follow him.
