It is with profound sadness that we share that Rev. Mallick Fitzpatrick, SJ passed away on April 24.
Mal's contributions and service to Fordham Prep, to our community and students as a teacher, coach and leader of the Guidance Department for so many years, were considerable.
The Prep’s group guidance program was his creation in the 80s, a program well in advance of local and national school counseling organizations adopting such programs. Mal inaugurated another addition to services provided by the Prep’s counseling staff, the hiring of a social worker to meet the mental health needs of Prep students.
After completing his fiftieth year of service at the Prep in 2009, Mal remained active as an art history teacher and a consultant to the college counseling staff right up until his 2016 retirement.
We pray for Mal, for his family and for the Jesuit community at Murray-Weigel where Mal lived for the last few years. He will be missed by all who knew him.
May he rest in peace.
