Year Opens with Mass of the Holy Spirit
Posted 09/14/2018 12:24PM

On Tuesday, September 11, the entire Prep community gathered to celebrate the Mass of the Holy Spirit, the traditional start of the year in Jesuit schools. We welcomed returning students and the incoming freshmen, the Class of 2022.

The readings were Acts 2:1-111 Cor 12:3-2,12-13 and John 20:19-23. The celebrant of the Mass was our President, Christopher J. DEvron, SJ, and his homily focused on expectations for the upcoming year. He mentioned fear and how Christ approached it and how this relates to students on a daily level. The homily concluded by charging the boys with the responsibility of going out to be men for others, dedicated to God’s greater glory. A copy of his homily is HERE.

Following communion, the community welcomed the freshman class with a thunderous round of applause. Best of luck to everyone in the 2018-19 school year.
