Earlier this week, Fordham Prep participated in a new Ignatian Social Justice Tournament along with Fairfield Prep, Loyola HS, Regis HS and Xavier HS. Each school advocated for a particular service site. All gave terrific presentations on behalf of inspiring programs.
Fordham Prep students --Chike Odume ‘18, Jonah Shortall ‘18, John Tomsen ‘18 and Michael Tozzi ’18 -- spoke about our long-standing relationship with P.O.T.S. (Part of the Solution) on Webster Avenue. They did an outstanding job and earned $20,000 for P.O.T.S. to use to increase its capacity to provide services for our neighbors in need.
Special thanks to Mr. Jim Rowen ‘82 for generously sponsoring this event in which every school earned a sizable award for its cause. Thanks also to Prep Trustee Mr. Mario Ciampi ’78 for serving as a judge, and to Prep Board Vice-Chair Dr. Ellen Fahey-Smith P ’11 & ’14 and Rev. Christopher Devron, SJ for coming out to support the team!
These schools and individuals exemplified the Ignatian ideal of Men for Others.
