Bastianich & Friends Scholarship
Established in 2014 by Deanna and Joe Bastianich ’85 P ’18, ‘20 and his mother, Lidia P ‘85, this fund provides tuition assistance “to families who cannot otherwise afford a Fordham Prep education.” A celebrated restaurateur and author, Joe stars in CNBC’s Restaurant Startup and Masterchef Italia television shows. Noted chef and author, Lidia has been a fixture on PBS cooking shows since 1998. Bastianich Hospitality Group is comprised of thirty acclaimed restaurants world-wide. Their “friends” are guests and patrons who supported the fund during special dining experiences at the family’s Del Posto restaurant.
Thank you for your past support of the Bastianich & Friends Scholarship Fund. Fr. Devron announced at the conclusion of the 2016 Bastianich & Friends dinner that we had exceeded our goal of raising $1MM to permanently endow the Fund. We would not have been able to reach this milestone without your help along the way. Whether you were with us at the beginning and attended our initial event in 2014, and/or last year’s dinner where you met the first Bastianich scholar, Ryan Scott, or made a donation to the Fund, your generosity helped push the endowment to over $1MM. As Fr. Devron said in his remarks on Thursday evening, "This is a great achievement because it means we can provide tuition assistance to more academically promising young men who would otherwise not be able to attend the Prep." Now, through your generosity, the Bastianich & Friends Scholarship Fund will be able to support five students annually. Once again, thank you to all the parents, alumni and friends who came together to support Fordham Prep in its commitment to provide a Jesuit education steeped in faith, scholarship and service to young men, regardless of their financial circumstances.
