Areas to Support
The Annual Fund Contributions to the Annual Fund account for 12% of Fordham Prep’s essential operating budget, playing a vital role in sustaining the quality of our education and enriching the experiences of today’s Rams.
The Annual Fund is also central to our Catholic, Jesuit mission and reflects our commitment to access and affordability. It supports the need-based financial aid that comprises a significant portion of the $6 million in tuition assistance awarded to over 50% of our student body.
You may choose to direct your Annual Fund gift to support:
Academics—Support for internal and external academic programs, department needs, and technology to enhance the educational experience of Prep students.
Athletics—Current use support for athletic teams, including uniform and equipment costs, coach salaries, and transportation costs.
Faculty Development—Support for programs to facilitate continuing education for our
outstanding faculty, including in-house development days and external conferences, both virtually and in person, across the country.
Fine Arts—Support for day-to-day needs of the visual and performing arts programs,
including art, music, and theatre.
Faith & Service—Support for Campus Ministry initiatives, Retreat programs, and
year-round service opportunities for all students.
Special Programs—Operational support for various new and expanding special programs at the Prep, including the iSTEAM program, and the Global Education Program.
The Annual Scholarship Fund is another way to lend your support to deserving students who cannot afford to attend Fordham Prep without merit scholarships or financial aid. A gift in any amount will be used exclusively for tuition payments.
The Annual Scholarship Fund provides aid that can be used immediately to increase
access to a values-based, Catholic education for young men. A diverse applicant pool will benefit from the fortification of the various individual scholarships that comprise Fordham Prep's total Annual Scholarship Fund. The availability of additional tuition scholarships will make the difference between a student's attending Fordham Prep—or even applying—and never having the opportunity to live the Prep experience.
Currently, 50% of Prep students receive tuition assistance ranging from $1,000 to full tuition. Tuition for the 2024-25 school year is $24,610.
The Fordham Prep Formation Foundation Trust provides the Prep with an Endowment, designed to be a perpetual source of financial support to the Prep to assist with fulfilling its mission of providing a premier education to deserving young men in the Bronx and surround areas.
An endowment benefactor may choose to support student scholarships. Another might fund a special program (e.g., a monthly guest speaker’s forum, faculty development, a specific need identified by the President) or a student prize (e.g., to recognize outstanding extracurricular leadership or exceptional sportsmanship). Most endowment funds given to the Prep have been earmarked for financial aid to students.
The funds that have been donated are not meant to be spent—nor are all of the earnings from the invested principal. A portion of the earnings is usually added to the principal; this is done to augment the endowment and to compensate for future inflation and possible economic downturns. The spendable income of the earnings is used for the purpose that the donor originally specified. Only endowment income can be spent. By law, the principal must remain intact in perpetuity.
Those intending to support the Endowment should make their contribution to Fordham Prep Formation Foundation Trust. The Fordham Prep Formation Foundation Trust is designed to be a perpetual source of financial support to the Prep to assist with fulfilling its mission of providing a premier education to deserving young men in the Bronx and surround areas. The Foundation helps ensure that all donations will be exclusively used for the Prep’s Mission. The Foundation is a separate legal entity, and all checks should be made out to Fordham Prep Formation Foundation Trust.

Charitable IRA Rollover (qualified charitable distribution or QCD)
If you are 70½ years or older, you can make direct transfers of up to $100,000.00 per year from your IRAs to Fordham Prep without having to count the transfer as income for federal tax purposes. Since no tax is incurred on the withdrawal, these gifts do not qualify for a charitable deduction, but may be counted toward an individual’s minimum required distribution.
