Student Investment Club

Many colleges and universities have classes or clubs that allow finance students to invest a piece of their endowment in the stock market.  However the opportunity for high school students to invest "real" money in the market is unique to Fordham Prep; we know of no other high school in the country that offers this interesting and challenging learning opportunity to their students, and our students have tallied some impressive results since they entered the market with their first stock purchase:

• In March 2020, 24 seniors were given $100,000 of the Fordham Prep endowment to manage
• Three months later, in early June, the initial investment had grown to $127,000 - a rate of return of over 25%!
• This spring, 130 seniors, across six Economics classes will continue to manage the funds which have grown to $150,000
• Each class has been assigned two of the 11 S&P sectors to research and recommend for investing
