Kathleen Bonnette teaches theology at Georgetown University and homeschools her elementary-aged children. Bonnette holds a Doctor of Theology degree in Catholic Studies, and her focus areas include moral theology, Catholic social thought, Augustinian spirituality, and ecofeminism. She was the 2022 Imbesi Fellow at Villanova University’s Augustinian Institute and recently served as the Assistant Director of the Office of Justice, Peace, and Integrity of Creation for the School Sisters of Notre Dame, Atlantic-Midwest Province. Her new book (R)evolutionary Hope: A Spirituality of Encounter and Engagement in an Evolving World is currently in press with Wipf and Stock Publishers. Leah Libresco Sargeant is the author of Arriving at Amen and Building the Benedict Option. She is a convert from atheism to Catholicism who has worked as a policy analyst, a data journalist, and a curriculum developer at an organization teaching “defensive driving for your brain.” Her writing has appeared in The New York Times, The Washington Post, Plough, Comment, First Things, America, and other outlets. She runs Other Feminisms, a substack community focused on the dignity of dependence.
Sam Sawyer, S.J., is the editor in chief of America magazine. Prior to his appointment as editor in chief, he served on the editorial staff with responsibility for America Media's digital platforms. Before working at America Media, he served as an associate pastor at Holy Trinity Church in Washington, DC, after being ordained a priest in 2014. During his theology studies, he helped to found The Jesuit Post and served as one of its first editors. During his Jesuit formation, Fr. Sawyer studied philosophy at Loyola University Chicago and theology at Boston College; he also taught philosophy for two years at Loyola University Maryland. Before entering the Society of Jesus, he worked as a software engineer after graduating from Boston College and spending a year as a volunteer middle school teacher. In New York, Fr. Sawyer assists at St. Francis Xavier Church.
