Endowment
LACROSSE ENDOWMENT
An endowment held by a non-profit organization such as Fordham Prep consists of funds that have been donated usually with a specific objective or purpose and then invested to generate income in perpetuity. Thus, the donation provides a long-lasting benefit to the organization, rather than if it were spent all at one time. Gifts of this type are classified as “pure” or “restricted” endowments, meaning that they must be used as originally intended/specified by the donor.
The funds that have been donated are not meant to be spent—nor are all of the earnings from the invested principal. A portion of the earnings is usually added to the principal; this is done to augment the endowment and to compensate for future inflation and possible economic downturns. The spendable income of the earnings is used for the purpose that the donor originally specified. Only endowment income can be spent. By law, the principal must remain intact in perpetuity.
Gifts to the endowment will be placed in the Fordham Prep Formation Foundation Trust. A robust Endowment is a measurement of the Prep's long-term strategic plans and financial sustainability.

Len DeLucia P'09 Fund
Len was the embodiment of “a man for others". His love for Fordham Prep, alumni, students, and faculty made him a Ram through and through. He truly defined what it means to be a supportive Fordham Prep parent and a stalwart member of the Prep community. The Len DeLucia P'09 Fund for Athletics has been created to honor Len's legacy and to enhance the athletic program at Fordham Prep.
Our ambitious goal for the Fund is $200,000. A portion of the fund will support the creation of a new Fitness & Wellness Center which will include the naming of a section of the new facility in Len's honor. This new best-in-class 8,070 square foot facility reflects the Prep's commitment to health, wellness and fraternity. In this reimagined space, both athletes and Physical Education classes will be able to benefit. For more information click here. The remainder of the fund will support student-athletes in a variety of ways both on and off the field.
Leonard DeLucia, DDS, '09 was a beloved member of the Fordham Prep community. Len was the varsity lacrosse coach from 2009-2014 following a year as the team's assistant coach. During his tenure he led the program to 72 wins and two city championships in 2011 and 2013. The program also beat its first nationally ranked opponent, upsetting #17 Gonzaga at the Jesuit Lacrosse Classic in 2014. Len earned CHSAA coach of the year that year and coached seven All-Americans for the Prep. Len’s impact on the lacrosse program did not stop when he stepped down. He was instrumental in launching the Lacrosse Hall of Fame & Fundraiser Dinner, which annually brings back numerous alumni in support of the program, and forming the Prep's Top Corner Club, which he supported in countless ways.
Len was a tireless supporter of the Prep. You could find him moving boxes, serving drinks, warming up the dance floor at the Prep's annual IGNITE Fundraiser Gala, or filling in at the scorer's table for the hockey team. He was also particularly vocal about honoring the work of others and was instrumental in having the scoreboard on Fordham University's Murphy Field dedicated to the memory of his University classmate Joe Allen (Fordham Prep Class of 1980).
Off the field, Len served as the chairman of the Golf Outing committee. His commitment and devotion to the outing ensured that the always popular event was a great success both for the golfers and for Fordham Prep. He brought his care, humor, and sense of fun to this event each year.
