Christian Service Immersion Trips

Service immersion trips invite students to encounter God by serving alongside communities facing economic and social challenges.

Grounded in prayer, simplicity, community, and reflection, these experiences foster relationships that deepen students' understanding of faith, justice, and solidarity. More than an opportunity to help others, service immersion challenges students to recognize the dignity of every person and often leaves them transformed by those they encounter. 

The Program’s Origin Story

Fordham Prep's Christian Service Immersion Program began in 1994 when eight students traveled to Appalachia for a week of service. What started as a single trip has grown into one of the school's signature formation programs, providing thousands of students with opportunities to encounter Christ by serving alongside communities facing economic and social challenges.

Over the past three decades, students have participated in immersion experiences across the United States and internationally, partnering with organizations dedicated to affordable housing, education, community development, and outreach to those on the margins. While these experiences have made a meaningful difference in the communities served, their greatest impact has often been on the students themselves.

Through prayer, reflection, and relationships with the people they encounter, students discover that service is about more than helping others—it is about solidarity, recognizing the dignity of every person, and growing into men for and with others.

Support Our Work

Each year, students who participate in a Christian Service Immersion Trip raise money to support the work of our partner organizations. This work cannot take place without the generosity of our Fordham Prep family and friends.  Each donor becomes an integral part of the program.
