Boys High School Athletic Programs
Our Athletic program is committed to furthering the mission of Fordham Prep to form leaders in faith, scholarship and service. It does so by seeking to provide a competitive and diverse team centered culture which challenges athletes to strive for excellence and success through discipline, hard work and humility.
At the Fordham Preparatory School, our teams participate in 18 sports with 40 interscholastic teams. Last year, hundreds of students participated in our athletic program. Most teams participate in the Catholic High Schools’ Athletic Association (CHSAA), and Fordham Prep varsity teams have won over 50 CHSAA City and State Championships since 2010.
Students enjoy the use of the Prep’s own practice field, track, fitness center and two gyms in addition to university facilities, including fields, tennis courts and pool. Contact us today to learn more about our boys' high school athletics programs. We're proud to welcome athletes and students throughout the Bronx, Manhattan, New York City, Yonkers, White Plains, New Rochelle, Mount Vernon, Scarsdale, Rye, Mamaroneck, Larchmont, Port Chester, NY, Greenwich, Stamford, CT, as well as the surrounding Westchester County, NY; and Fairfield County, CT communities.

Participating in Boys High School Athletics Can Benefit Your Student in Many Ways
At Fordham Preparatory School, we encourage students to explore extracurricular activities, including sports. There are many ways this can benefit your son. For one thing, colleges look favorably on students who pursue a variety of interests outside of academics. Participating in boys high school athletics can bring about many other positive outcomes as well.
- Physical Health: Adolescence is one of the most developmentally important times in a child's life. Participating in high school sports can help students establish and maintain healthy routines that follow them throughout their lives. Men who participate in boys high school athletics tend to have better mental health, fewer instances of habits such as smoking and drinking, and reduced chance of conditions such as obesity or type 2 diabetes.
- Leadership and Teamwork: Leadership, mentorship, and collaboration are all major benefits of participating in boys high school athletics. Acting as part of a team teaches important soft skills such as empathy, understanding, appreciation, and leadership. This creates a more positive and collaborative environment that benefits the school as a whole in addition to our individual students.
- Time Management: Participating in a sport will teach your son the importance of properly managing his time. Between studying, preparation work, practices, and games, student athletes learn to balance different obligations and fit them into their busy schedules. This is excellent preparation for college and professional life down the road.
- Improved Academics: Several studies have indicated that students who participate in high school athletics tend to see positive academic results. Many of the skills your son learns on the playing field will translate directly to academic skills at the collegiate level and even beyond.
