Global Education

Fordham Prep’s Global Education Program aims to raise student awareness of the world outside their own environment through the exploration of different and diverse cultures in the world community.

Based in Jesuit tradition, this awareness prepares students to be more empathetic, accepting of differences, aware of social justice and human rights issues, and poised to better understand the interconnected and diverse world within which they live and work. While other schools may offer trips to their students, our program–one of the first of its kind–goes beyond tourism.

Students learn to immerse themselves in a culture while forming lifelong relationships with partnering schools, organizations and their hosts abroad. They learn to communicate effectively at a global level, respect and value diversity, understand and take action against injustices, and develop skills necessary to work cross-culturally.

Types of Global Study at Fordham Prep

Fordham Prep offers two types of global travel experiences and one certificate path:

Jesuit Exchange

Fordham Prep students exchange places with a student at a partnering Jesuit institution, living with host families, attending classes with host students, and experiencing local culture. Typically 10 days.

Academic and Cultural Immersion Trips

Students travel abroad with Fordham Prep faculty for a short-term educational experience. Typically 7-10 days.

Ignatian Global Scholars Program

Students complete a focused curriculum over two years to further explore and deepen their commitment to being global citizens for and with others. Travel is not required to complete this program.

Where in the World have Fordham Prep Students Studied?

Fordham Prep students have the opportunity to explore and learn across the globe. Our roster of trips have brought students to the majestic Andes mountains in Chile, bustling bazaars in Morocco, dense bamboo forests in Japan, and everywhere in between.
