Fordham Prep is thrilled to continue lauding students honored by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) with news of three Rams—William Bracchitta '25, Matthew Castaneda '25, and Kieran Elias '25—being named commended students.
"Fordham Prep is incredibly proud to celebrate William, Matthew, and Kieran as commended students in the National Merit Scholarship Competition," said Andrea McDermott, Assistant Principal for Academics at Fordham Prep. "This achievement is a testament to their dedication to academic excellence and embodies our mission of nurturing young men who are committed to faith, scholarship, and service for the greater glory of God. We are grateful for all they have accomplished both inside and outside the classroom. Congratulations on this well-deserved recognition."
Commended students placed among the top 50,000 students who entered the 2025 competition by taking the 2023 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT).
"Those being named commended students have demonstrated outstanding potential for academic success,” said a spokesperson for NMSC. “These students represent a valuable national resource; recognizing their accomplishments, as well as the key role their schools play in their academic development, is vital to the advancement of educational excellence in our nation. We hope that this recognition will help broaden their educational opportunities and encourage them as they continue their pursuit of academic success."
