Prayer Service for the Nation Scheduled for January 7

Prayer Service for the Nation Scheduled for January 7

Dear Members of the Fordham Prep Community,

This afternoon, January 6, our country witnessed an assault on democratic institutions, the rule of law, and the will of the people. The actions of rioters at the U.S. Capitol strike at the very heart of our values as Americans and people of faith.

Our Catholic Jesuit mission calls each Fordham Prep student to become a critical thinker who strives to understand the truth and follow where it leads, and to become a man for and with others who is dedicated to God’s greater glory. Our respect for the dignity of one another flows from the Gospel, calling us to reflect Christ’s love in action.

Tomorrow morning, January 7, the Prep community will gather in person and virtually at 9:50 a.m. to pray for our nation, and to ask God to give each of us and all Americans greater wisdom, patience, and courage to engage in our civic responsibilities in peace and respect for people of different views and backgrounds. We will share a link for this prayer service to the Prep community tomorrow morning via social media, email, and on our website.

Sincerely yours,

Rev. Christopher J. Devron, SJ
