Fordham Prep Mourns the Loss of Vincent "Vin" Scully '44

Requiem æternam dona Vincentio, Domine, et lux perpetua luceat ei.

Vincent "Vin" Scully, Fordham Prep Class of 1944, passed away on August 2, 2022, at the age of 94.  Mr. Scully, a member of the Prep’s Hall of Honor, is broadly recognized as the greatest sportscaster in history. His 67-year career calling baseball games with the Brooklyn and Los Angeles Dodgers ended with his retirement in 2016. During his legendary career, he also called numerous tennis and golf events, including the Masters tournament.

He received numerous awards during his lifetime including:

  • Ford Frick Award (broadcaster’s wing of the Baseball Hall of Fame) - 1982
  • Lifetime Achievement Emmy Award - 1995
  • Radio Hall of Fame - 1995
  • Presidential Medal of Freedom - 2016
