8th Annual Great Ignatian Challenge Kicks Off
Fordham Prep begins collecting food for the Great Ignatian Challenge (GIC) today, November 1, 2023, officially marking the school's eighth year participating in the food drive competition.
This year, four more Jesuit schools joined the challenge, bringing the total list of participating schools to 22.
Four additional schools (Archibishop Kellenberg, St. Xavier, Loyola Sacred Heart, and Monroe Catholic) were added to the mix for the 8th annual Great Ignatian Challenge. The friendly food drive competition was started by Prep alumnus Jim Rowen '82.
Non-perishable foods collected this holiday season will go to the Prep's longtime GIC beneficiaries Part of the Solution (POTS), Mercy Center, and Concourse House to combat hunger and food insecurity. Students will also dedicate a portion of their efforts to supporting Viva House in Baltimore, Maryland, run by Prep alumnus and Hall of Honor member Brendan Walsh ‘60.
Prep Rams are aiming to collect upwards of 60 pounds of food per student this year to help their neighbors in the Bronx and beyond.

While GIC ends on November 22, 2023, Generosity Month lasts all throughout November at the Prep with the Turkey Bowl Challenge, Table to Table, and Giving Tuesday.
