Varsity Soccer wins the CHSAA NYC Championship!

On Sunday, November 7, the Varsity Soccer team defeated St. Francis Prep 3-1 to win the CHSAA "AA" NYC Championship — a game in which the Rams overcame an early 1-0 deficit with resilient play and great individual performances. The game was a rematch of last year's final in which the Terriers beat the Rams, making the victory even sweeter.

The Rams' championship run included a 11-game winning streak to end the regular season and secure the New York Archdiocesan title. After claiming playoff wins over over Iona Prep, Archbishop Molloy, and St. Francis Prep, the Prep has won 14 consecutive matches.

Head Coach Pete McNamara reflected on the rewards of a hard-fought season, one of the most successful decades he has served in his coaching role at the Prep. "The Fordham Prep soccer team is always so conscious of the honor to wear the school uniform and colors," McNamara expressed. "We are so proud of the sweat, work, and intelligence that goes into playing for Fordham Prep."

"The smiles on the team's faces, along with the coaches, players, trainers, and our Athletic Director [Anthony Kurtin] will be images that last with me for a long time."

Up next for the Rams — a matchup on Friday evening (November 12) in the New York State CHSAA "AA" semi-final. The Prep faces off against Buffalo's Nichols School at Mitchel Field on Long Island. The game will begin at 5:00 pm.

With another win on Friday, the Rams would move on to the NY State Championship game set for Sunday, November 14. Game time is TBD.
