Spring Track Newsletter April 26, 1997
The
Penn Relays lived up to the hype as our Varsity competitors turned in some
outstanding times. The Soph Sectionals
also staged some eye-opening performances.
We kick off the “stretch run” with 13 medals.

2:26.8 Track Notes-In a spectacular race, Sophomore Daryn Johnson
defeated the runner considered to be the top distance soph in the City. What
does that make Daryn now? His time of 4:32.9 for the 1600 is the 2nd
best ever by a Prep Soph. Thus, the MIP. Other great performances, notably
Gary Roskoski’s record-breaking Discus hurl, and Rich Whalen’s fine 400m PR,
deserve praise as well |
