Spring Track Newsletter May 19-25,1992
The City and Eastern States Championships gave us a glimpse of the talent we can look forward to for next year, as well as one of our last looks at a runner who has made an indelible impression on the team, the league, and Track in general. We close out the season with 290 medals – surpassing last spring’s mark by 8. Also, falling only 57 shy of last year, we walk away with 746 medals for the year.

Track Notes
- Congratulations to Captain Reynaldo Mendez for capturing his 5th and 6th CHSAA titles – a school record – and for being named the outstanding performer of the meet. Rey will complete his fine scholastic career by attempting to replicate that difficult double at the State Championships on June 11/12 in Kingston NY. Then its on to Chicago to run the Mile at Keebler International Meet on June 19th, then next to Spokane for the Junior National Champs on June 26/27. Best of luck!!!
- Without any “monster” PRs this week, we’ll extend a special “Star is Born” award to Junior Tom O’Dea, who showed he could carry the torch lit by Gerry Sullivan ’92 in the 3000 Meter Steeplechase. Tom finished a surprise 2nd at the Eastern States Championships to alert the CHSAA that he will be a distance and steeplechase force to be reckoned with in 1993-94.
