Spring Track
Newsletter April 30-May 2, 1993
Another perfect weather day for the
Jesuit Championships provided the climate for 20 medals to be won and
numerous personal bests to be shattered.
2nd place in both Varsity and JV divisions are
testaments to this team’s depth and strength.

Track Notes
- Many runners took advantage of the
great weather and scored numerous PR’s.
Some, like Eric Rosado, Justin Chin, and Tom O’Dea to name a few, hit
PR’s in more than one event. Others,
like John Verlezza, Dave Gleeson, John Rausse, Basil Cocheekaran, and Len
Kaledzi, broke “barriers” in their respective events. All of this week’s PR effort are laudable and were duly noted by
coaches and spectators alike.
Nonetheless, Freshman Brian Bailey reached new plateaus with
gigantic improvements in the High Jump and 400 Meter, as well as a pleasant
surprise in a quality Long Jump competition.
Congrats to the MIP in an MIP weekend.
- Special Mention goes out to all the Jesuit
“Ironman” - those who competed in 3 or more events. Senior Rey Mendez led the way by winning 5 medals in one
meet -
which may be a meet record.
