Cross Country Newsletter  ’92                                                      September 19, 1992

The number “1” is a numeral that the Prep is going to have to get used to this season.  This weekend’s races revealed that the Prep currently houses the #1 ranked cross country runner in New York State, the #1 Freshman from the Catholic Schools in New York City, and the #1 Sophomore Team in the New York section.   19 medals begin the ’92 assault on the record books.

XC Notes

-  As a result of some very hard work, most of the team recorded personal bests this weekend, making an MIP choice nearly impossible to distinguish. However, Freshman Marcello Lippiello gave us a sobering look at what hard work is by his 2:44 improvement.  Much credit goes to Seniors Keith Alt and Steve Rubright for their instrumental roles as team “drill sergeants” during the distance runs.

-  Congratulations to Captain Rey Mendez on earning a trip to the prestigious Fifth Avenue Mile this Saturday.  Best of luck to one of the only six nationwide invitations to this contest.
