Cross Country Newsletter ’91 October 2-5, 1991
In only their third week of competition, Fordham Prep has definitely announced their arrival on the NYC Cross Country scene. Anyone remotely connected with the sport had to have taken notice of Fordham’s dominance at the Iona Invitational (1st in Varsity and Soph and 2nd in Frosh), and at the St. Anthony’s Invitational (4th in the Varsity and 5th in Soph and Frosh), not to mention the 37 medals won this week

XC notes
- Among many others, two Sophs had superb outings this week. Tom O’Dea and Chris Gomprecht, each in just their first Cross Country season, continued to show excellent progress. Congrats the their Senior Dom Lopez for (officially) breaking the 15-minute barrier, and to Freshman Robert Navarro for improving his time by one minute
- Conversion times to the Van Cortlandt Course are difficult, especially when comparing to a much different course like Sunken Meadow. Nonetheless, most coaches agreed on the following:
-
Freshman course: +
-
Vars. And Soph: -
-
- 4:20 between
- -4:50 between 21:30 and 25:00
