The Fordham Prep Youth Movement is in full swing as of this weekend. At the Frosh/Soph City Championships, the Prep posted one city champion, 7 medals, and PR’s all over the place. All signs point to success as the team prepares for its Jesuit Championship defense on February 15th.

Track Notes

-           With so many outstanding PR’s, the MIP was tough. However, a COUPLE OF 1600 runs stand out. Soph Rey Mendez and Senior Ray Medina earn MIP for their excellent work in the mile. Mendez improved by over 20 seconds in his first mile this year, while Medina’s mile debut cut 9 seconds from his previous best. Other super PR’s came from the double grand slam PR team of Nick Marinos, Jason Smith, Chris Mancinelli, and Chang Choi. All four runners hit PR’s in both 800 and 1600 relays. Still more great work came from double-PR men Dave Gleeson (who’s becoming a regular in this spot) and Eric Alemany. Also, Freshman Dan Favata and Tom O’Dea both cut 6 seconds from their 800 PR’s, and Junior Chantit Simma took a quantum leap in the 200.
