Penn Magic!
|
112th Penn Relays - Philadelphia Down one of our top half milers in John Bradley, the Prep was thought to be going to the Penn Relays just for the experience. But they got the most of that experience as the 4x800 not only took the 12th and last qualifying spot for the Championship of America, but then parlayed their "experience" into 5th place medals. 7:58.62 on Friday, 7:51.57 on Saturday. In the Pole Vault, Junior Jon Bednarz took 9th of 23 competitors in his first Penn Relays, the 4x100 of Joe Lota, Mohamed Kanu, Luis Petrovich and Mike Ulanski ran their fastest time by 1.5 seconds (45.41), and the 4x400 of Marcos Ferrer, Corey Punter, travis Long and Pat Hemsley had 2 PRs en route to a fine 3:34 4x400m. New York Relays - Icahn Stadium

Hurdlers cap undefeated relay season by winning the first classic NY
Relays plaque awarded in more than 20 years. Their win in the
4x110m Shuttle Hurdles set a new school record.
All runners should do easy distance both Saturday and Sunday.
Wed 4/19
- 5th Annual
CHSAA Relay Carnival- Icahn Stadium
Many great races at all levels on a bright sunny day, albeit
a fairly windy one at Icahn Stadium. The Hurdlers won both relays
to stay undefeated, the Freshman won two sprint relays and the Sophs
broke the school record in the 4x1600. The meet was capped off by
the final duel in the final event, where National Soph Record holder
Lionel Williams just edged out our own Brian Doherty to lead St.
Peter's to a 8:02.29 to 8:02.36 4x800m win. Williams anchored
in 1:52.3 to Doherty's 1:52.7 which will go down as one of the
greatest 4x800's in Relay Carnival history (both teams broke the
meet record as well).
4/17 -
29th Annual Iona Invitational - Iona Prep
For only the 2nd time in 36 years, the Prep's 400 meter
record falls. This time at the hands of Brian Doherty,
who won the Iona Invitational for the 2nd straight year in 49.1
seconds, breaking the 3 year-old record of 49.2, set by Conrad
Dalton in 2003. Terrence Egan and Vin Fata go 1-2 in the
Steeplechase, and Brian Andreycak wins the 110mHH. There were many
other great performances, including Freshman Jourdan White's 5'8"
HJ,
Ciaran Sleeper's 10' PV, Mike Jennings' 7:24.5 2K Steeplechase and
Phil O'Connell's 10:16 3k. Many more great efforts helped the Prep
defend it's Iona Invitational Title!!
"Bad" grades: The "no-jewelry" rule was in effect for the first time in the 29-year history of the Iona Prep meet, and Mohamed Kanu and Chris Palicka were casualties of the switch. Mohamed was clocked in 15.1, which would have been a new school record, but was disqualified for violating the jewelry rule, due to his wearing his Fordham Prep Honors bracelet. If only he hadn't received honors....
