Fordham wins 4x800 in thriller in 7:54.63 US#1

Fordham Prep NY became the first team in the country under 8 minutes this season, and pulled three more teams along with them. Seven of the 11 teams led the race through the third exchange, when Fordham anchor Brian McCabe took the stick in fourth place. McCabe closed ground quickly and had the lead by the bell (left) in a 1:54 anchor. The next four teams claimed US#2 to US#5 in the national rankings: Liverpool 7:56.26, South Shore 7:58.11, Shenendehowa 7:58.97, and Shaker 8:00.68.

McCabe got the stick in fourth place as Syosset led starting the anchor leg (below). Liverpool took over the lead (right) as McCabe moved into second.
