The Millrose Games Time Trials: it's one of the best events of the year.
One shot, top six teams win nothing but a sheet of paper--a sheet of paper that
will list the young men that qualify to compete at the World's Most Famous Arena, at the
World's Most Famous Indoor Track Meet: The Millrose Games at Madison Square Garden (Feb.
1, 2002).
THE FASTEST HIGH SCHOOL TIME IN THE NATION THIS SEASON:
8:00.90.
Jose Fernandez - 1:57.6 leadoff - the junior stayed in 2nd despite the
fast pace, and took the lead w/ 60m remaining
Olusola Olaleye - 2:04.8 - the senior handed off in 2nd place, and held off the
pack with gutsy running down the stretch
Brian McCabe - 1:59.9 - the soph broke it open, relentlessly pulling away from the
baffled field
Conrad Dalton - 1:58.4 - :56 at the 400, he hurt the chasers, was overtaken briefly
w/ 200m to go, but unleashed his characteristically devastating kick and brought it home 5
seconds ahead of the nearest contender (and he wins the bet--he'll be behind the wheel of
the coveted Geo Prism soon)
