Track Notes
Can it be done??  The School and CHSAA One Mile Relay record is 3:17.0, set at the Penn Relays in 1969 by the great team of Gene Costello, Pat Reilly, John Hallinan and Fred Miller.  To break the record, which was run in yards as opposed to today's metric distances, a Prep team would need to run 3:15.8.  If FAT is being used (as will be the case at States and Nationals), the team would need to run 3:16.13.  The 1969 time converts to 3:16.14 allowing for the standard .24 second conversion from hand timing to automatic timing, and converting to meters. 
What will be needed? A drop of .7 sec. per runner off their PRs---in the same race!
