6/15-16 - Nationals: Southern Odyssey
The road trip to Raleigh was more memorable for, well, the road trip, but it was an interesting finale to a dream year for Fordham Prep.   The ups: Naclerio takes 9th with 180'6" toss, 4x100m relay races to fastest time of the year, with Idris Payne replacing Dave Bailey.  The not-so-ups: dropped stick in 4x200m, 3:36.73 SMR, sub-par weekend for Mike Sangobowale, and rain delays the meet enough to force us to scratch the 4x400m.  Meet Results - Team Results

6/8 - New York State Champs - Uniondale, LI
3:20.59 for 4x400m just misses finals at State Champs
Gavin McMahon is 8th at States in 13'6"
Emenike (11.18), 4x100 (44.0) just miss finals
-Flucus 51.3, Bailey 50.6, Dalton 49.8, Payne 48.5 - a superb race given they weren't pushed and won their heat by a large margin.  The fastest of 6 heats had all 8 qualifiers, with the Prep just missing the cut out of the second heat by a heart-wrenching .03 seconds!  3:20.59 has WON many previous State Meets!  
Obaro Emenike stumbled in his 100m semi, still ran 11.03--fastest time of any Soph at the meet!

5/19 - 2001 Sectional Champions!

Joe Flucus (r.) and Dave Bailey slammed the door with their 1-2 finish in the 200m at meet's end
5/19/01 - Saturday, the Prep won it's first-ever outdoor sectional championship in dominating fashion.  86 points were garnered against some of the City's best teams!  That's 18 first place plaques in 2000-2001, with one more to go.......................

Frosh 2nd!  - Despite running without 3 of it's top athletes (all who scored in the Varsity meet), the Frosh took 2nd for the second year in a row!

5/12 - Frosh & Soph Cities - Iona Prep
REPEAT!! Frosh & Soph City Champs!
If you didn't believe it the first time, believe it now.....
The Prep gutted out exciting victories in the Freshman AND Sophomore City Championship meets--an incredible feat by itself, but all the more improbable in that we won both titles  Indoors too!   It was a complete team effort, as the Frosh overcame an injury to the City's best distance runner to storm ahead for the title.  The Sophs showed their quaility as the 14-member Soph squad amassed 50 points!!!!  Check out meet results - Team results to come!

5/11-12 - Loucks Games & Hartford Invitational
	Varsity racks up big medals on the road. Steve Naclerio (left) wins Javelin at Loucks Games in new school record 184'10", then takes 3rd at Hartford.  Mike Sangobowale takes 2nd in 52'0" at Loucks, then launches Disc 146'0" for 6th,  Rupert Pond 5th in PV with 12'6" effort, Dave Bailey 51.09 400m Team results

5/9 - Novice/Junior Midget City Champs - Iona Prep
Sub-Midgets take 1st!  Nice Preps for Saturday!

5/6/01 - 26th Jesuit Outdoor Title.
Prep takes both Varsity and JV Jesuit titles.  Obaro Emenike lowers school 200m record to 22.3 and Soph hurdle record to 16.1.  Will Holder breaks Joe Schaller's 36-year-old 400m record!  4:37 mile from Frosh McCabe.  Greg Sans lowers Frosh HH record to 16.5.    Meet Results... Team Results

5/1 - Soph Sectionals Triple Crown!  Soph sweep sectional series--XC, Indoor & Outdoor! Meet Records fall at the feet of Obaro Emenike (100m & 200m), Jose Fernandez (400mIH) and Gavin McMahon (PV)!  Conrad Dalton breaks Soph 400m Record (51.2)! Easter Vacation:
Many venerable Prep records were toppled!
Steve Naclerio broke a 41 year-old Javelin Record woith his State-leading 184'9" toss at Farrell invitational!  Steve will take his trade to the Penn Relays next week!  Check out article in 4/12 Journal News!

Field Events come up big!  Steve Naclerio PRs with top Javelin toss in NY State!  Conrad Dalton PRs with Soph school record and #2 All time Prep 6'4"!  Mike Sangobowale nets 2 silvers in Disc & Shot!  Heitmann and Beale uphold PV tradition!
Runners roll too!  Frosh break 4x400 record!  Greg Sans crushes 400mIH record! Varsity 4x100, 4x400 & 4x80 all medal!  Soph 4x400 takes 3rd!

March 31, 2001
The Frosh SMR record fell this weekend at the hands of  William Holder, Matt Venditto, Ross Wade and Brian McCabe at the Bishop Ford Relays.  The Throwers have come out blazing, with wins in each event at the Fordham Development meet and Collins Relays. This weekend, we break in the new track at Mount St. Michael.

The Prep places 2nd at the 74th Annual CHSAA Indoor Championship on February 18th!  It's the Prep's highest finish ever!   6 athletes headed to the State Champs!  Team Results

Win 3rd straight Sectional Frosh title for Coach Carney.  Varsity place strong 3rd.   Gold medals from Conrad Dalton (HJ), Brian McCabe (3200), Greg Sans (800), 4x400 Relay (Doherty, Goldhagen, Albert, Perkins) and William Holder earns Frosh MVP by tying meet 55m record and winning 300m.

Brown Invitational Results - 12/29
The snowstorm prevented our participation on the second day of competition, but we clearly made the most of the first day, winning 14 medals, one 1st place plaque and taking down a soph school record!

Loughlin Games -12/16
Coach Carney burnished his growing reputation as Pole Vault wizard as the second of his charges soared to the top of the state leaderboard--Colin O'Dwyer clears 13' at Loughlin Games for 4th place.  With another gold sectional plaque--this time for the Junior-Midget crown--the Prep team seems ready for the big tests ahead.  Loughlin Games - Appalachia Meet - Junior-Midgets - 12/17 Appalachia Team Results - Other Team Results to come.

Rewrite the Records!
The 51st CHSAA Relay Carnival and the Soph Sectional Champs saw school records fall at a dizzying rate, and the Sophs added a dominating performance to take the 2nd leg of their quest for a Sectional Triple Crown.

Joe Fox Ram Relays - 12/2/00
On Day One of the Ram Relays, Junior Kamar Adlam clears 6'0" to rank himself 5th in Prep indoor history!  On Day 2, the Prep scored on all 3 levels to place a strong 2nd, as the freshman Distance Medley broke a 7 year old record, and the 800m relays won by 5 seconds!

11/25 - Molloy Invitational 
Freshman win 4 of 5 Frosh events, including Greg Sans' meet record 9.1 in the 55m High hurdles (also ties Prep 4 hurdle record!).  A great start!

5 sophs, led by 4th place Sean Egan, paced the JV to 3rd at Brewster, while another Soph, Pablo Romero, led the Varsity to 4th place.

Alumni Updates

Alumni Update!!
Cornell Soph Daryn Johnson '99 placed 5th at the Heptagonal (Ivy League) Champs this Saturday in the 3000m Steeplechase.  His time of  9:11.5 earned him a trip to the IC4A Championships, and election as the team's Most Improved Runner of the Year!  Congrats D!

Alumni Rule!!
On Feb. 4th, Lloyd Nolan '99 won the Metropolitan Collegiate Championships in the Pole Vault with a 15'6" effort for Rutgers!  Gary Roskoski (Prep 1995-1997) won the shot put in 51'11" (16lb) for Manhattan College.  Also, Nick Raguso '00 ran 4:24 for the Mile (11 second PR) and 9:04 for the 3000 (approx. 12 Sec PR) at a meet for UNC-Asheville at Clemson University!  At the Syracuse Invitational, Tom Carpenter '98 placed 6th in the 1600m Run in a PR 4:33.37 for the University at Binghamton.   Deric Zaphire '99 ran 1:05.93 for 10th place in the 500m and 1:57 on Fordham University's 4x800m Relay at the Met Champs, and Marc Porcaro'00 ran :49.7 for 400m on Fordham's DMR.  In addition, Jamaal Matthews '99 took 19th out of 40 runners in the 60m Dash for Columbia University at the Met Champs.   Finally, Adrian Clarke '00 has pole vaulted a PR 12'6" for Tufts University, and Daryn Johnson '99, now running for Cornell University, has run 8:58 for 3000 meters and 15:24 for 5000 meters this winter!
