New Alumni Engagement Manager
As the Prep celebrates its 175th Anniversary this year, we are pleased to share the conclusion of the search for the Alumni Engagement Manager. The process had its share of strong candidates and special consideration was given to alumni from Fordham Prep.
Beginning on April 3rd, John Murtagh - Prep class of 2005 - will be the Prep's Alumni Engagement Manager. He is the son of a Prep alumnus, John '78, and has a Prep brother, James '10. While discussing why he wanted to return to the Prep, John shared "I was raised with a unique sense of what a special place Fordham Prep is to the people who call it their alma mater. I experienced firsthand how the values and morals taught every day at Fordham Prep are lived out in their graduates."
Upon his arrival, John will work closely with Larry Curran to asses the Engagement process and begin outreach to key volunteers and class leaders in order to build-up the Prep's Class Rep program with an eye towards greater engagement and participation from our alumni. John will also work closely with the faculty to share the good work that occurs in the classroom and showcase the academic strength of the Prep more broadly. Included in his role, John will continue to work on alumni events and engagement programs, assess and strengthen current ones and create new ones to help us continue to engage the community broadly.
John graduated from Boston College in 2009 with a BA in History and served over the past four years as an infantry officer in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves - currently serving as the Weapons Platoon Commander for Fox Company, 2nd Battalion, 25th Marines. He has worked in several financial and relationship management roles at Greenwich Associates and most recently with Morgan Stanley.
While he is excited to join the Prep, John also made another life change as he married his fellow BC graduate, Amy, on New Year's Eve with over 40 years of Prep grads present.
John's contact information will be posted on the Prep website on April 3rd.
