Welcome to Fordham Prep!

Since 1841, when New York's Archbishop Hughes founded a school in the Rose Hill section of the Bronx in what was then still part of Westchester, young men have studied Latin, Greek, English, Math and Science at Fordham Prep. Located on the scenic Rose Hill Campus of Fordham University, Fordham Preparatory School has a long history of educating young men in the Ignatian tradition. Jesuit education insists on individual care and concern for each person; it emphasizes active participation by the student and an openness to growth and life-long learning. Like all Jesuit schools, Fordham Prep promotes a realistic knowledge of the world; encourages an awareness, love and acceptance of self; and seeks to form men for others, particularly in concern for the poor.

If you are interested in learning more about Fordham Preparatory School, we invite you to browse through this website.  The Admissions section contains application information.  You may contact Mr. Lauber, our Director of Admissions, by clicking here.

Security:

Users are responsible for any and all actions performed on the network using their account.  Under no circumstances should you ever share your password with another person.  This is a direct violation of the Acceptable Use Policy.

Change your password frequently and avoid “easy-to-guess” passwords.  A “strong” password includes a number of mixed letters and digits that do not form a recognizable word or name.

Never open an e-mail attachment from an unknown source and scan files you download for viruses before you open them.

Be sure to log out when you are done using a computer.  Never walk away from a computer while still logged in.

Internet Access:

Users can access the World Wide Web from any computer in the building.  Per the Acceptable Use Policy, internet access is to be used only for school-related activities.  Users’ activity on the internet is tracked and access to inappropriate sites is filtered.

Laptop Access:

Students can access the Prep’s network by configuring it for wireless 802.11a/b/g access.  Laptop users can access the Internet, their “U: drive”, and school printers through the network.  Information on how to configure your laptop for use on the Prep’s network is available in the Computer Center.  Students who bring laptops to school and attach to the network must abide by the rules in the school’s Acceptable Use Policy.

File storage:

You can store up to 100 MB of documents in a personal folder on the Fordham server.  Any time you log on to a workstation on the network, your folder will appear as the U: drive.  Never save documents on the C: drive or in the “My Documents” folder on a school PC.

You can access your U: drive from home or from a laptop by going to http://www.fordhamprep.org/joomla/ and clicking on the access button.

Printing:

At the beginning of the school year, each student receives a $30 credit for printing on the network.  Each time you print, a per-page charge is taken against that balance.  When your balance reaches $0.00, you will be unable to print on the network and you must add additional funds to your account in the Prep’s Business Office.
