Make Your Gift Count

Annual Fund
Gifts to the Annual Fund help to bridge the gap between monies received from tuition and the actual cost of providing education for our 900 students. These are the gifts that help keep the Prep keep the lights on. These are the gifts that keep our tuition increases below the nation's cost of living index. Those who are looking for "bang for the buck," need look no further than the Prep's Annual Fund.

Your gift to the Annual Fund is tax-deductible. The Prep accepts American Express, Visa, MasterCard and Discover cards as well checks and money orders. Send your contribution to:

Rev. Kenneth Boller, S.J.
President
Fordham Prep
East Fordham Road

Endowment and Scholarships
Gifts in any amount may be made to the Prep’s General Scholarship Fund. This Fund is a central resource that the President and the Director of Financial Aid may draw from in addressing the needs and merits of individual students.

Gifts in the amount of the current rate of tuition will ensure that a worthy but needy student can attend Fordham Prep for one full year.

Gifts in the amount of $25,000 and more will serve to establish a named scholarship fund that will provide an annual award to a deserving student in the name of the donor, or a person the donor wishes to have remembered or otherwise honored. The amount of the award will vary with the earnings of the fund and considerations of merit and need.

Gifts in the amount of $150,000 will serve to endow a full scholarship in perpetuity at Fordham Prep. Endowed scholarships are the most prestigious awards that the Prep can make. Only students who give evidence of abiding financial need and certified academic promise can be the recipients of funds from one of the Prep’s fully endowed scholarships.

To discuss ways and means of making gifts for scholarships and financial aid at Fordham Prep, please call the Office of the President: (718) 367-7500, ext. 200; or call the Office of Alumni Relations & Development, ext. 210.

Planned Gifts

  • Will/Bequest: Naming the Prep as a beneficiary in your will can provide estate tax savings for your heirs, allow you full use of your assets during your lifetime and give you the satisfaction of helping the Prep in the future.
  • Charitable Remainder Trusts: By creating a charitable remainder trust, you can make a tax-deductible contribution and retain an income for you or for others you designate for a set number of years or for the lifetimeof you or a loved one. A charitable remainder trust can be funded with cash, appreciated securities or real estate.
  • Gift Annuities: Arranging a gift annuity enables you to make a gift to the Prep and receive payments on a regular basis for the rest of your life. In the year when your annuity is established, you are entitled to a tax deduction for a portion of your gift.
  • Life Insurance: One of the simplest and most convenient ways to give a planned gift is through life insurance. An irrevocable gift of life insurance can result in a tax deduction for the paid premiums or the fair market value of the policy, whichever is less.

Making a Gift of Securities
Gifts of appreciated marketable securities afford donors an attractive means of giving to Fordham Prep. Donors receive a tax deduction for the market value of the securities they give to Fordham Prep, computed on the day of their transfer, while avoiding payment of capital gains on the stock's appreciated value. It is the policy of Fordham Prep to sell all gifts of stock as soon as they have served the donor's purposes. Donors of stock are encouraged to consult their brokers or advisors.
